SERVICES

Our Hospice team is committed to helping you make the most of the last months of life by giving you comfort and relief from pain and other symptoms. The program:

  • provides skilled nursing, home health aides, medication, and medical supplies and equipment
  • may include physical, speech and occupational therapy
  • offers spiritual support
  • concentrates on making patients as pain free and as comfortable as they want to be so they can have quality of life when quantity is limited
  • includes trained volunteers from your community
  • continues with bereavement counseling for 13 months

Your doctor and hospice will work with you and your family to set up a plan of care that meets your needs. You and your family receive this care in the comfort of your home. Depending on your condition, you may have hospice care in a hospital or nursing home.

Hospice will teach a family member or other person to care for you and members of the hospice team will make regular visites. A nurse is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to give you and your family support and care in an emergency. Hospice does not provide 24 hour care. Volunteers are trained to help with everyday tasks, such as shopping and errands. They will also stay with you if your family needs to do errands or simply rest.

Even though a physician is a member of the hospice team, your family physician will manage your care. Hospice will work closely with your regular doctor to give you the care that you need.
