VOLUNTEERS

Volunteer Responsibilites

Volunteers are a very integral part of the Hospice Program. They bring the unique gift of themselves to support the dying patient and family.

Qualifications

  • Desire to help, maturity, and nonjudgemental attitude, sensitivity to others' needs, kindness, honesty and simplicity.
  • Listening skills
  • Ability to help families remain independent through support
  • Successful adjustment to his own losses
  • Ability to accept families as they are without a need to change family patterns of behavior or religion

Basic Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Demonstrates maturity, nurturance, and dependability
  • Must be neat and appropriately dressed
  • Willing to make a commitment to the Hospice Program
  • Must have made adjustment to any recent significant losses
  • Must not have had a signficant loss in the past year
  • Completed the Hospice Basic Training Program
  • Interviewed and approved by screening committee
  • Willing to submit to background check and drug screening
