VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer Responsibilites
Volunteers are a very integral part of the Hospice Program.
They bring the unique gift of themselves to support the dying patient and
family.
Qualifications
- Desire to help, maturity, and nonjudgemental attitude,
sensitivity to others' needs, kindness, honesty and simplicity.
- Listening skills
- Ability to help families remain independent through support
- Successful adjustment to his own losses
- Ability to accept families as they are without a need
to change family patterns of behavior or religion
Basic Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Demonstrates maturity, nurturance, and dependability
- Must be neat and appropriately dressed
- Willing to make a commitment to the Hospice Program
- Must have made adjustment to any recent significant losses
- Completed the Hospice Basic Training Program
- Interviewed and approved by screening committee
- Hold an active membership in Hospice of Northwest Michigan
- Willing to submit to background check and drug screening
