Hospice Giving Back to the Community

Three ways to Raise Funds

For those committed to raising funds for Hospice of Northwest Michigan, there are three ways to go about it:

  1. A group or individual can host an event or sponsor an activity and make Hospice of Northwest Michigan the beneficiary. For example, you can host a golf outing and give Hospice of Northwest Michigan a check for the net profits.
  2. Hospice of Northwest Michigan can “piggyback” on an existing event, adding a third-party fundraising element, and receive the income produced from that element. For example, a city has an annual marathon and the sponsor offers registrants the opportunity to get pledges for Hospice of Northwest Michigan.
  3. Invite Hospice of Northwest Michigan to cooperatively produce an event (by providing volunteers, promotional assistance, mailing) and share in the profits. For example, a local business invites Hospice of Northwest Michigan to participate in an art auction. Hospice of Michigan sends out press releases and provides volunteers to work at the event. In return, Hospice of Northwest Michigan receives a percentage of the proceeds from the event.

How To Begin

Please write a description outlining the aspects of the third-party fundraiser, including:

  • A full description of the event (Hospice of Northwest Michigan is required to know what the event involves)
  • Date, time, and location of the event
  • What is expected of Hospice of Northwest Michigan (brochures, volunteers, promotional assistance, etc.)
  • Anticipated costs and projected gross income of the event
  • Plans, if any, for corporate sponsorship
  • Contact information of the director(s) and coordinator(s) of the event

Once you have your fundraiser laid out, please Contact Us.

Fundraising Guidelines

Hospice of Northwest Michigan has a set of guidelines that we ask all individuals and organizations to follow when fundraising on our behalf:

  • Please do not organize a third-party fundraiser that includes lotteries, gambling, fortune telling, raffles/drawings without first discussing it with a Hospice of Northwest Michigan representative
  • Fundraisers requiring any type of license should first be discussed with and approved by Hospice of Northwest Michigan
  • Keep accurate accounts of your event. Hospice of Northwest Michigan will not be responsible for any expenses incurred for a third-party fundraising activity
  • The third-party fundraising activity should be one that does not conflict with our mission (if unclear, please contact Hospice of Northwest Michigan)
  • Your third-party fundraiser should not conflict with an existing Hospice of Northwest Michigan fundraising event
  • Remember that Hospice of Northwest Michigan does not insure any third-party fundraisers
